Thanksgiving Pumpkins

I know it is time for Christmas stuff, but I had to share the cute stuff my daughter-in-law did for Thanksgiving.  My son is currently deployed so Emily celebrated with friends.  She asked me what kind of decorations she could make.

These pumpkins are super simple.  Her friends couldn't believe they were paper.  The little cello bag party favors I thought were adorable and she did a great job with the Bottle Hangers!  She was very excited!  Now, she has a cookie exchange and is concerned she is building a reputation she has to live up to!  That's ok!  That is what I have been doing for the past 20 years, helping crafters be creative!

Still room in the Wednesday night Sparkling White Christmas Class.  I will be cutting paper Tuesday night.  I promise you these cards are beautiful. 

 

Gently Falling!

This is a card made by one of my downline Dena R.  She made it for our Holiday Mini swap.  I love how she over stamped the outline of the leaf without lining it up.  The little pieces of pattern look so clean and simple. The greeting is from the very elegant Hand-Penned Holidays also in the Holiday Mini. Here is another card she made.

I love how she created the texture of the Spice Cake Designer Series Paper by roughing it up after cutting it with the terrific trims die for the Big Shot. Isn't the very vanilla velvet ribbon yummy?  Love the clean freshness of the card.

Fun Week! Simply Stamp Time!

Whew! What a week.  After having been gone for 3 1/2 weeks to come back to 5 Simply Stamp Time sessions this week was crazy.  Sorry for no new posts!  But I have to say this week was way too fun.  The ladies that come are just too much fun.  We laughed and made some great projects.  Check back to see them and mark your calendars for November and December.  Already have some great ideas!

This sweet fall banner was made using the Spice Cake Product Suite from the Holiday Mini.  The Spice Cake Designer Series is such a cool combination of fall colors and I love the addition of Pool Party it just makes it pop.  The banner is really easy since I cut it with the Pennant Big Shot die.  The little fabric twists are made with the Spice Cake fabric.  The big buttons add such a fun touch!

Simply Stamp Time!

 

This another one of the projects we made at Simply Stamp Time in September.  The stamp set for the leaf is Gently Falling from the Holiday Mini.  It is a great Two-Step set.  The outline of leaf was stamped first with Soft Suede ink and then the solid image was inked with the champagne shimmer spray and sponged on the image and stamped over the top of the outline!  Isn't it lovely?  The pear pizzaz card base is embossed with the Herringbone embossing folder.  The frame is a cool technique using the Simply Scored and Spice Cake Designer Series Paper from the Holiday Mini.  The words are another favorite from the Holiday Mini - Hand-Penned Holidays.  We embossed it with the pewter embossing powder (yep, holiday mini again!)  The edge of the banner was made with the Decorative Label punch.  Check out this post for the details -  Trick or Treat.

Three Dogs, Two Turkeys & Don

Sorry I haven't posted this past week.  I was a little busy with 13 houseguests and 3 dogs!  My sisters and their families and both my kids and fiance and boyfriend!  It was a houseful but great fun.  I fully intended to get on and put up some cool stuff but it was just too busy and fun.

This pretty much one of the best pictures of the weekend. The three dogs, Shadow, Smudge and Tika, were quite sweet and enjoyable all week.  While Don was cleaning off the turkey carcuses they were sitting so patiently! 

While we were together, I did give my family My Digital Studio Albums of Lizzie's Graduation.  To present it to them I made it into a slidewhoe so everyone could watch it on the TV and then have their own copy to take home.  It was super easy to do.  I have already shared the album with you Lizzies Graduation.  Here is the slideshow so you can see the difference.

The trick is to make the album first and then it is simple to make the slideshow.  It was a great way to share the album with a group of people.

 

Thanksgiving Display - It is all in the Details!

When I opened up my box of Thanksgiving decorations (something I haven't done in a couple of years!)  I found these little pumpkins and candle holders.  What nice surprises.  The pumpkins had raffia and plastic flowers and stuff on them so I updated them a little and wrapped a piece of Autumn Spice Designer Series Paper around the candle

Does this tree look familiar?  It has been to many of our Expo booths.  Used it as part of the display to hang one end of the banner from.  I was having a hard time figuring out where to attach the other end  and make it high enough to go above the frame. 

A couple of bobbins stacked on top of each other worked perfect and added to the details.

The little pine canes are from the Big Shot  Table setting die that I then textured with an embossing folder.  The die cuts a spiral you just wrap up and then when you let go it makes these great pine cones.  I made each ornament with one soft suede and one early espresso pine cone that I attached with the large eyelets.

The leaves were cut with the Big Shot leaves die, then I sprayed with smooch spritz and wadded up.  After unraveling, I attached them together with trinkets safety  pins, brads and put some more leaves on the back to cover the mechanics.  Then a safety pin on top to hang it by.  Aren't they cool?

When I had this arrangement all together, I realized I had this Decor element and wanted to put it some where!  The actual Decor Element has the wheat on the bottom.  When I cut them apart they fit perfect on the front of my antique school desk. 

Well, I hope you enjoyed from little display!  It was definitely fun to create and made me feel a little better!

Thankful Banner

 

 

This banner was a result of not sleeping.  I came up with the idea and made it!  At least something came of a bad nights sleep.  I used the small banner on the Big Shot Pennant die.  I didn't fold the paper to make a full pennant and used half of each banner to make each piece. 

I used the Autumn Spice Designer Series Paper for the part of each piece and the Big Shot Terrific Trims die to add detail for the edges. 

The letters I cute with Serif Big Shot Alphabet with the Big Shot adhesive then dipped it into the Champagne Cut Glass glitter from the Holiday Mini.  It looks really cool in person, not so good in the photo.

I added pearls, antique brads, trinkets and various things on each piece to make them unique.  Then I strung them on Very Vanilla Seam binding putting a button or brad in between each piece.

The fleurette on the last piece was made by dyeing the fleurettes with so saffron.

I was very happy with it! 

 

A Fun Day

Today I put together this fun display in my entry. This weekend I was not feeling so good and thought some crafting would do me some good.  It isn't very often I just get to craft for fun - not prepping for a class, workshop or expo!  So Saturday I started out with the Decor ELement Frame.  I have made one for Halloween and Christmas so I felt that I needed one for Thanksgiving. 

Covering the frames are really easy with the Big Shot Adhesive available in the Holiday Mini.  I stamped a few of the big medalions from Day of Gratitude in Early Espresso on the Early Espresso paper. 

Add a few pearls and ribbon frosting and it looks great. 

The hardest part of working with the frames is the inside of the inner square.  Trying to cover it neatly if you don't want the white.

I wanted this sentiment for the center but the stamp in the stamp set was too small.   THen I remembered that I had bought the digital download of this set for My Digital Studio so I printed out a larger version - making it the perfect size for the opening.

For this one I used some gold waffle paper and glued it up and over the edge and then layered the leaves over the edge and sprayed some log cabin smooch spritz to help cover the edge.  By covering with the gold waffle it just made sure no white showed through.

Featured Artist - Sara Langland

Sara Langland, one of my downline sent this lovely assortment from a class she recently held for her customers.  Aren't these gorgeous?

This little owl punch is too stinkin' cute.  This little 3 x 3 card is quite cute.  The wood grain background stamp is the perfect touch.  She uses the Autumn Spice Designer Series Specialty Paper. 

I love how she used brush markers on the little flowers.  It looks so simple and elegant.  The paper is heavily textured so in person these cards look really rich!  Pictures don't do them justice.

Sara colored the large  medallion from the Day of Gratitude stamp set and cut it out cutting off the border.  Then she stamped a second one and cut it out layering it underneath.  The little scallop layer behind the sentiment on these last two projects is made with clear embosslit for the Big Shot.

This little covered journal is the perfect little gift.

Stampin' Up! Demonstrator Get together

You know you want to come!

Isn't this too cute?  This is made with the new candy wrapper Big Shot Die in the Holiday Mini.  It is a really intricate die and is a little tricky to fold.  In fact many of us at my last Demonstrator Get Together had fun trying to find the easiest way to teach this to our customers.  Many laughs but we finally figured it out.  It really is easy and super cute.  By putting the large scallop on the front it tilts it up. I thought this would make a great place card/table favor.  OH! I have been trying to think of something for Thanksgiving - it is at my house and quite an event usually.  Will keep you posted on that one.

It is hard to tell but this is a little pocket that you could put a cookie in.  The paper is the Autumn Spice from the Holiday Mini and is heavily textured.  I am thinking that I just figured out my table favors/place cards for Thanksgiving.  Check back around Thanksgiving to see.

 

Holidays Stampin' Up! Demonstrator Style!

   

I thought I would share some pictures of Thanksgiving and stuff and where some of the stuff I make ends up!  The top picture is my son and his girlfriend.  He is stationed in FL and she lives in Boston.  She came to visit for the Thanksgiving weekend and he cooked his first turkey dinner!  My first phone call came at 7:20 Am and about 7 or 8 phone calls later he had made his dinner!  I sent him the turkeys and stuff I had made to decorate his table - I didn't think he would think of that!

      These are pictures of My Thanksgiving Dinner at my sisters house. There were 20+ people there so we made some turkeys and pumpkins to sprinkle about the table!  

Remember the goodies for my daughters volleyball team dinner?   Anna, her assistant coach, put the hat in her hair and said it was her costumer!

 I am so sorry there was no post this morning!  My computer was acting up and my husband was working on it and my daughter is home and we had plans to go out!  So no post!  We are leaving for Thanksgiving in the morning so I am sorry I have no sample!  But I do have some reminders -

Thanksgiving Table Decorations - Continued!

   

So, since I wrote the Turkey tutorial I had the inspiration to make a larger Turkey using the other scallop dies from the Big Shot!  Pretty cool? 

To make the larger turkey use the same steps, with these adjustments in dies/punches:

·    feathers and stand in back use the scallop circle die 1 - #113468 

·    body use the larger scallop on scallop circle die #2 – 113469

·    gobble use the small scallop on the same die

·    beak use the 1 3/8” circle punch

I hope your turkeys are cute.  Here is the Pumpkin and Wheat tutorial to complete your decoration!  Enjoy!

·    Punch a green little flower from the Boho Blossom Punch

·    Punch 8 wide ovals in Pumpkin Pie

·    Fold them in half.

 

·    Adhere the halves together creating a circle.

       

·    Adhere the little green flower to the top!  VOILA! a cute pumpkin!

·    To make the different size pumpkins use the Large or Small Oval punches.

Wheat Stalk Tutorial

·    Cut 6 pieces of Creamy Caramel ¼” x 3 ½” (scraps are good for this so you don’t have to have the exact measurement!)

·    Punch one scallop each of Creamy Caramel, More Mustard and Close to Cocoa

·    Cut 2 scallop wedges of each color. 

·    Adhere to the stalk ends.

·    Bundle together with blank stalks tie with ribbon.

·    Adhere to pumpkin

 

Adjust the connections so that the display stands up. 

Thanksgiving Table Decor Cuties!

 

Are these too cute?  I am making these as table decorations for Thanksgiving! I found the inital ideas for this in a number of areas but wanted something that would stand alone and be fun for a table.  Notice I am way ahead of Thanksgiving though!  Susi – this is for you!  Susi, my youngest sister and Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator, loved the spiders for Halloween but requested that anything cute for Thanksgiving come a little earlier!  So, see how easily I comply!  To make it better I have even done a tutorial of how to make this little grouping.  Today I will do the Turkey and then tomorrow the pumpkin and wheat stalk! 

TurkeyTutorial

   

Supplies needed:

·    Pennant Big Shot Die (or scallop punch for smaller turkey)

·    Scallop Punch

·    Boho Blossoms Punch

·    Wide Oval Punch

·    1 ¼” circle punch

·    Cardstock – I sued textured but regular would work. Scraps are great for this project!

o       Chocolate Chip

o       Ruby Red

o       Old Olive

o       More Mustard

o       Creamy Caramel

·    Ribbon – I used the Alpine from the Holiday Mini, but any fall looking color would work.

·    Adhesives – I used Dotto and glue dots for most of it.

·    Use 2 ½” squares to run through the Big shot to make your scallops. If you don’t have a Big Shot the scallop punch will work, you will just have a smaller turkey.  You need one more Chocolate Chip square than shown in this picture.

o       You need to cut scallops of the following:

§         3 Chocolate Chip

§         Ruby Red

§         More Mustard

§         Old Olive

·    Punch two of the little flower on the Boho Blossoms Punch in Pumpkin Pie.

 

·    To get all the pieces in this picture:

o       Punch the 1 ¼” circle in Pumpkin Pie.  Then cut it into quarters and each quarter into 3 pieces.  This gives you 12 beaks!

o       Cut the Old Olive, Ruby Red, More Mustard and 1 Chocolate Chip scallop in half.  DO NOT CUT ALONG SCORE LINE.  Ignore the score lines they won’t matter at the end.

o       Cut one of the Chocolate Chip scallops as shown in picture to make head.

o       Cut off one scallop of one-half of each of the Ruby Red, Old Olive and More Mustard scallop halves.

o       You should have pieces resembling the picture below and one whole Chocolate Chip Scallop (one with a score is great for this one, but not critical.)

·    Start assembling by placing the turkey body on one of the chocolate chip halves lining up the three scallops at the bottom of the body with the straight part.   Then layer the scallops.  Dotto is great but glue dots add some depth.

   

·    Then place your little flowers on the back bottom straight.  These will help your turkey stand up!

·    Fold the whole Chocolate Chip scallop in half, adhere to the back covering your mechanics, and make a stand.  Adjust until the Turkey stands easily!  This is where Dotto is great!

 

·        Now you have a cute turkey!

Holiday Place Settings - Stampin' Up! Style!

  

This is the coolest!  Shelli, CEO and Co-founder of Stampin' Up! recently did this segment on a TV station.  Here is the link to watch the segment!  Really watch the segment!  I looked at the pictures and thought I got it all and then when talking to my friend Cheri she started talking about some other stuff so I watched it.  COOL STUFF!
