Pleasanton Scrapbook Expo - Framed Art

This framed specimen art style is all the rage in paper crafting.  This one I made in our Twitterpated Designer Series Paper Pallete using a variety of punches and the new framelits!

It is a 12 x 12 page that fits perfectly into a shadow box.  The glass on the box makes it hard to photograph.

Here it is in the frame at the show.  As you can see the glass gives off shadows.

I am doing this frameable art as a class.

Simply Stamp Time

Simply Stamp Time is coming for February.  Monday February 6 through Thursday February 9.  Each Evening from 6:30-9:00,or Tuesday or Wednesday 10 am - 12:30.  Thursday evening is open to younger stampers with participating adults.

This is a project we made at a past Simply Stamp Time.  We used the Simply Scored tool to make the little pleated skirt. Each session we make 3-4 projects.  Purchase $25 in catalog merchandise as your class fee.  Purchase $50  and you will recieve your choice of Sale-A-Bration offerings FREE!

Fun Week! Simply Stamp Time!

Whew! What a week.  After having been gone for 3 1/2 weeks to come back to 5 Simply Stamp Time sessions this week was crazy.  Sorry for no new posts!  But I have to say this week was way too fun.  The ladies that come are just too much fun.  We laughed and made some great projects.  Check back to see them and mark your calendars for November and December.  Already have some great ideas!

This sweet fall banner was made using the Spice Cake Product Suite from the Holiday Mini.  The Spice Cake Designer Series is such a cool combination of fall colors and I love the addition of Pool Party it just makes it pop.  The banner is really easy since I cut it with the Pennant Big Shot die.  The little fabric twists are made with the Spice Cake fabric.  The big buttons add such a fun touch!

Simply Stamp Time

I recently held a private class for a group of ladies.  The projects are similar to what I do at Simply Stamp Time. They just like to set up their own time!  This is one of the projects we made - I think it was their favorite!  It uses the build a blossom punch and stamp set.  The center of the flower is made with one of the large buttons in the button assortment and a black glimmer brad.  The ribbon frosting with sticky tape and seam binding is always such an elegant touch.  Of course what card is complete without a little (or alot!) of First Edition Designer Series Paper.  The strips on the bottom is from the Designer Series Patterns Pack.  You can see the little border peeking out using the ribbon border punch.  I really liked this card and they did to!

Flirtatious Ribbon Fabric

The 2011-2012 Stampin' Up! Idea Book & Catalog has some lovely suites.  Suites are an assortment of stamp sets accessories and embellishments that are designed to work together.  It makes designing so fun and easy.  I can remember 15-20 years ago when we would get a new catalog and would spend a good portion of my crafting time just figuring out what went with what!  Now, I just get out a suite of items and get going and before you know it you have a great bunch of cards.  This card is from the Flirtatious Product Suite.  I added the Perfect PEnnants Bigz Die.  What?  There are no pennants on that card!  But on this cool die are 2 scalloped circles with detailing that perfectly coordinate with the Flirtatious Product Suite.  The Die also coordinates with the Big Top Product Suite and lots more.  I believe it is the best new die in the 2011-2012 Stampin' Up! Idea Book & Catalog.  I used a strip of one of the Flirtatious Designer Fabrics.  The other two fabrics you can see on this card.  I added the little tag from the Tiny Tags stamp set and jewelry tag punch. The doilies in the background is one of the papers from the Flirtatious Designer Series Paper.

More Sneak Peak - Flirtatious Fabric?!!!

Yes - You heard it Fabric is back in the 2011-2012 Stampin' Up! Idea Book & Catalog!  there are a number of assortments.  I used the Flirtatious Designer Fabric on this card.  I saw a card in the June Issue of Stampin' Success. This is a monthly publication for Stampin' Up! Demonstrators loaded with ideas for business and stamping.  I loved the card but they sewed on a ruffle - I am not getting out the sewing machine for a card.  I made the ruffle with a strip of sticky tape and a strip of fabric and just crinkled it!  The Melon Mambo Doily is from the Flirtatious Specialty Deisgner Series Paper I told you about in this post. The lovely new In Color is Wisteris Wonder. It is so soft and rich. Remember we have 5 new in colors coming in July 1 that will be with us for 2 years and the current In Colors are around for another year.  The little medallion I made using the Big Shot Sizzlit Floral Fusion.  I used the new Delicate Doilies Stamp stamp set in the background on the Wisteria Wonder.

Sneak Peak Week!

I know I have been missing in action.  Just needed a break and was out of town for some golf now that the weather has finally got  nice!  Yesterday, I actually sat down and played with my 2011-2012 Stampin' Up! Idea Book & Catalog Sneak Peak Order!  WOW! It was fun.  As a Stampin' Up! Demonstrator we get to order from a select group of merchandise a month before everyone else.

I copied the basics for this card right out of a sample in the 2011-2012 Stampin' Up! Idea Book and Catalog, page109.  The sample in the catalog is a landscape design with Old Olive as the primary color.  I wanted to do something with the new stamp set My Friend and so I flipped the lay out to be portrait.  The other problem I ran into was I wanted to do it in Poppy Parade since that color is in the colors of the Pocketful of Posies Designer Series Paper that coordinates with this stamp set. The problem was that we don't have a lot of embellishments in Poppy Parade.  So, I tried some really red and I liked the look.  The white baker's twine in the little buttons bothered me so I took the Poppy Parade marker and just colored the twine.  Pretty cool trick - I did it at the end so you just have a little bit to do and you don't need to worry about letting it dry!

On the Grow!

This is one of the swaps I made with the Summer Mini stamp set On the Grow.  It is a cute little set which required me to bring in a little watercoloring on the samples! I stamped the background with the sanded background stamp that I have recently fallen in love with!  The little rick rack is from the Trims Big Shot die. I like the little button and brad with the cool bakers twine (Summer Mini) detail I added.

Cool new Punches!

This is one of the cards we made at Simply Stamp Time this past week. My friend Dawn shared it with me and I just the love the bright happy colors.   The cool flowers are made with our new triple flowers punch from the Summer Mini.  The punch has three different settings so you can punch a variety of different thins.  My friend and downline Liz P. made a very cool card with this punch.

Featured Artist -Fun Flowers by Dena Rekow

Dena R., one of my downline, sent these fabulous cards to me.  She is obsessed with the Fun Flowers Big Shot Die!  Me, too!  It is so easy to make a quick card with it.  The flowers on these two cards are made with the Ice Cream Parlor  paper that was part of the Sale-A-Bration FREE stuff but you could use any paper! 

These are great quick and simple cards, but really cute.

I have an addiction - to First Edition Designer Series Paper!

It  has become impossible for me to make a card without using the First Edition Designer Series Paper!  And since I have seen the upcoming Summer Mini which does not include the First Edition I am seriously having anxiety!  I hope it is on the carryover list or that it reappears in the new Stampin' Up! Idea Book & Catalog for 2011-12!  Here is my latest creation.

I made this card for the Paper Players Challenge. It got me motivated.  Lately, I have been working on scrapbooks like crazy and when I sit down to stamp I keep coming up blank so I decided to try a challenge.  It was fun - share your favorite challenge with me!  I may need to do these more often.

Here are some close-ups and details on the card.

The focal point on this card is very cool.  I saw this technique in Stampin' Connection (an online community for Stampin' Up! Demonstrators only).  It uses our Beveled Windowpanes from the Occasions Mini.  They are really cool and have a little slit to run ribbon through if you would like.  But this one I put sticky strip around the edge and then used the Glass Glitter (occasions Mini).  To get the image on the frame I stamped with Black Stayz-On.  It does take a minute or two to dry but really cool.  The picture of the full card looks like it is stamped twice but that is just the reflection.  The Botanical Gazette Designer Series Paper I thought added some good texture and then of course what is a card these days without First Edition Designer Series Paper.  I love the little cluster of glimmer brad, ribbon rosette and button.  I hope you enjoy this card. I am pretty sure I am going to do a card with these frames at the April Simply Stamp Time on April 11 -12 so mark your calendar.

Super Simple and FREE!

Each month I send cards to my demonstrators who are in the top 20 for personal sales, promoted or recruited some new demonstrators into their group!  I usually send around 30-40 cards so they have to be simple!  These were ones I did in the last couple of months.  I just added a quick button for one of the flowers. I'm Back! Classes to offer!

Sorry, I was MIA for a few days - just needed to regroup and figure out what was going on.  The wedding was such a hard date that I planned very little past that and so needed to get things organized and figure out what we are doing!  Whew!

So, I am offering a class on Saturday, March 26 from 9:30-1:00.  This is a little longer than my normal classes but these are some cool cards and you get to make 8 of them plus a cool box to hold them and I am including envelopes! 

Last December on Shelli's Blog, Stampin' Up! CEO and co-founder, shared a set of cards she made as gifts for the Today Show Hosts.  I just fell in love with these cards and set down and made them.  I had to make a couple of adjustments due to lack of supplies or particular stamps (yeah, I don't own everything in the catalog and do periodically run out of stuff!  I had a gift exchange to go to so I took one for the gift for that and it was a hit.  I have been holding on to this for when I had time to offer a class.  So it is finally here.

You will get to make one each of the 8 cards, and a coordinating envelope, plus the box.  Class will start at 9:30 with making the box and then depending on your stamp speed you will make the rest of the cards.  They are actually very simple just awesome to look at.  The cost for the class is FREE with a $50 catalog purchase the day of class!  What a deal.  Don't forget this means that you will also get a Sale-A-Bration gift as well.

This card uses the Clearly for You  (Occasions Mini) stamp set.  I cut the little tag with Big Shot Two Tags Die, super simple and cute!

More cupcakes!  This card uses the same cupcake punch as yesterday's card.  Combined with the pompom and wide striped grosgrain it is just a happy little card.  The fun big button and trim are also in the Occasions Mini.

Sympathy Card

Unfortunately, not too long ago I had the need to send out 2 sympathy cards.  I wanted to make something that would make them smile.  This stamp set that is called Thanks for Caring from the Occasions Mini.  I really like it since just one of the sentiments is Sympathy but the other sentiments are ones I will use alot. (I hope I don't have to use the Sympathy one very much!)

The circle behind the sentiment I embossed with a folder and then sponged lightly with Crumb Cake.

One of the cards was for my daughter's boyfriend whose grandfather died, so on his I replaced the crocheted lace with twill tape and the fancy antique brad with a simple craft button. I think that made it a little more manly!

Occasions Mini Swap

My friend and downline Chari B. made todays card for our Occasions Mini Swap.  Ilove the Springtime Vintage Designer Series Paper.  It is so gorgeous and soft.  Combined with the punched edge and seam binding just looks so soft and elegant.

Both of these cards use the stamp set Easter Blossoms from the Occasioins Mini.  But what I like about this card is the sentiment sending Springtime smiles.  Wouldn't you like to get a card with that on it?  The little rose adornments are just to precious combined with the items from the Springtime Vintage Suite!  Be sure to check it out in the Occasions  Mini.  These items are available until the end of April, but if you order over $50 before the end of march you can also get some Sale-A-Bration stuff FREE

Ice Cream Parlor Buttons & Ribbons - Part 3

In working with the Ice Cream Parlor Ribbons & Buttons the Daffodil Delight and Pacific Point color combination was definitely a favorite. The Designer Series Paper Stack in Brights definitely added a splash.  The little punches using the Itty Bitty Punch pack is just too cute.

The flower and butterfly. is from the stamp set Bold Blossom (Occasions Mini).  Super simple yet striking. 

Remember grouping together small elements can increase the size and impact of your focal image on a card.

Isn't this adorable? I picked the colors based on the colors in the Lap of Luxury Designer Series Paper - Concord Crush, Pretty In Pink, Basic Gray and Very Vanilla.  It is a very luxurious look!

I am not a big Owl fan but decided to give it a try.  I stamped the owl in Concord Crush (In color) and then punched out the owl.  I punched the vest and heart in a piece of the Lap of Luxury Designer Series Paper.  The large grey scallop  border is made with the Tasteful Trims die for the Big Shot. 

 

Last of Ice Cream Parlor Designer Series Paper

This is the third post of 10 cards made with the Ice Cream Parlor Designer Series Paper and Quick Accents.  If you would like to see the other posts - check it out!

 

To create the layer behind the greeting (Bring on the Cake), I punched two wide ovals and layered them so they showed just a little.  The little borders are some of the paper ribbons from the quick accents sheet.

The Quick Accents sheet had some little colored circles.  I used one to go on the top of the button.  The buttons are actually tempting turquoise but they look cool with the color palette on these cards.

The double pompom trim (Occasions Mini) just sets off the little paper ribbon.

So that is the last of the 10 cards made with the Ice Cream Parlor Designer Series Paper and Quick Accents.  I put out only half of the package and here is what I had left at the end.

The buttons aren't included in the kit but the ones in the bowl are what is left from a package of Designer Buttons Brights.  Remember this was only half a kit and you get everything for FREE with a $50 Stampin' Up! merchandise purchase.  Shop now!

Ice Cream Parlor Ribbon and Buttons Part 2

If you have been following my blog you will know I am in the midst of sharing 36 cards I made with the Sale-A-Bration FREE Offerings.  The first Ice Cream Parlor Ribbon and Buttons is here!  Remember the product I am highlighting is available for FREE with a $50 purchase of Stampin' Up! merchandise before March 31.

This card is super simple but oh soo sweet!  I used the Designer Series Pattern Paper Stack in Brights.  It just adds just great texture.  The stamp set is from the Occasions Mini - Bold Blossoms.  I figured out that it looks better if you punch out the flower with the 3/4 inch circle punch and layered it with a dimensional.  The next two cards wouldn't stand up for a picture.  I need to find some sort of cute stand.

The little border I made with the Itty Bitty Punch Pack.  One of the punches matches the Ice Cream Parlor  Buttons  perfectly.

Ice Cream Parlor Buttons & Ribbon

 

So I made 10 cards with the Ice Cream Parlor Ribbon and Button.  I used the Bold Blossom Stamp Set from the Occasions Mini.

This freebie comes with alot of cute little buttons in Melon Mambo, Daffodil Delight and Pacific Point.  When I went to pick out a color for the card bases I couldn't use Melon Mambo since it is set aside for wedding stuff!  I had already used Pacific Point so by default I went with Daffodil Delight!  I was very pleased with how happy and sunny the samples ended up being!

 

 

I am not sure why this picture is so dark.   The other product I added in was the Designer Series Paper Stack.  This has patterned papers in each of the Brights Colors.  It worked really well with the ribbon and buttons.

This last one was fun to create the different rows of different items.  The button row was fun but the button assortment doesn't have Old Olive so I had to figure out how to include old olive!  I used Itty Bitty Punch Pak to create a couple of the flowers out of the Designer Series Paper.  I thought it gave some great dimension.

Ice Cream Parlor Designer Series Paper

These are the ten cards I made and still had stuff left over. I put out half of a package so you can only imagine how many cards you could make!

Remember you have to purchase $50 of merchandise to recieve this free.  To make my cards I added a package of Pacific Point cardstock, Brights Designer Buttons, Daffodil Delight Pompom Trim (Occasions Mini) and a little bit of blink.  To make these Quick Accents come alive you will need quite a few Stampin' Dimensionals.  I used the Bring on the Cake stamp set.

Here are a few of the 10 cards I made.

 

The striped layer is made by layering the various paper ribbons from the Quick Accents sheets.

The ruffle on the bottom is a border from one of the papers.

I decided to go with the Sweet & Sour Designer Series Specialty Paper for this stamp  set.  The colors in this paper are Rose Red and Pumpkin Pie.  The paper has some shiny embossed images which is why it is a specialty paper.  It is really cool!

I have decided the First Edition Designer Series Paper can be used in place of Very Vanilla.  I can't get enough of this paper and since 24 sheets come in a pack it goes a long way.  It is now available in Digital for My Digital Studio which I plan to download soon! So back to the sample. I used ribbon rosettes (Occasions Mini) Glimmer Brads,(Occasions Mini) Designer Brads and trinkets to make the little arrangement around the heart stamp.   I love the little key hanging and a little smooch spritz.

I figured out the trick to the little images in this set is to create a focal image. 

It is hard to tell in the picture but the various scalloped squares use paper that have shiny embossing on them.  The strip for the greeting is from the Petal Cone Die (Occasions Mini)  I love the little Sweet Stitches covered button and of course a layer of First Edition Designer Series Paper.

Oh Sew Suite

Todays project before I can do any stamping or anything else is to sew a wrap to go with my dress for the wedding. (15 days!)  Yes, I do know how to sew.  I even made my wedding dress and all the bridesmaid dresses for my wedding!  My children question that ability!  But I digress! I decided to put up a couple of samples I made using the Oh Sew Suite in the Occasions Mini.  You don't have to be sewer to fall in love with these great retro looks and buttons!

I have always wanted a dress form - even though I hardly ever sew and never clothes!  I used paper pieceing with the new First Edition Designer Series Paper ()ccasions Mini).  To get the ruffled treatment with the wide grosgrain the best thing to do is to put down two strips of stick tape. I used the scallopped square duo for the square .  The stitched Designer Series Paper is from the Sweet Stitches pack.

Here is a closeup.  To make the button hold down the ribbon I actually stitched on the button.

 

 

 

 

 

The little paper buttons is made with the coordinating Sweet Buttons Embosslit from the Occasions  Mini.  This great little embosslit cuts out 6 buttons at once and embosses them.  The covered button coordinates so well and then the little pompom trim!  Just way to fun and cute!  Ok, now I really need to sew.  Have a great day.  Tomorrow I am going to be posting some fun stuff for the next couple of weeks during the Super Bowl, in between commercials!

Build a Blossom!

This is another great card by Nancy F.  It uses the Build a Blossom Stamp set and You're A Gem.  The stripe backgroundis from the Designers Series Paper Pack.  This stack of paper gives you patterned paper in 10 colors of one of our color families.  There are five different stacks.  The button with the heart is such a great touch.

Can you believe how creative Nancy gets with the Build a Blossom stamp set? I don't even know what you call these flowers but they are gorgeous. The embossed Tulip around the edge is done with the new embossing folder in the Occasions Mini and then she sponged it lightly to highlight the border.

The frayed ribbon in the flower center brings such detail to the flower.  The sponging on the edge ads a great touch as well.

 

 

 

 

 

Happy Birthday Adam!

Today is my nephew's birthday!  Happy Birthday Adam!  I am not always the best Aunt.  I forget birthdays and am usually late!  But this year I am going to try to do better!  I actually had this card in the mail earlier this week, so hopefully Adam got in time!  I used the Punch Bunch Stamp Set that is Free in the Sale-A-Bration  Brochure.  Then added the Create a Cupcake set and punch.  The scalloped square in the background is from the Square Duo for the big shot that came out in the Holiday Mini but is on the carry over list.  I realize some people may want a colored cupcake but I like chocolate cupcakes with chocolate icing so I had to make that!

Happy Birthday Emily!

Happy Birthday, Emily! (my sons fiance!)  Emily and Chris are having cupcakes at the wedding in less than a month so I thought a cupcake birthday cake was appropriate.  When I went down to see them and work on wedding stuff this past fall we taste tested a lot of cupcakes!  Hard work planning a wedding!

This card is super simple using the cool Build a Cupcake punch and Create a Cupcake stamp set from the Occasions Mini.  The pompom trim and ruffled grosgrain just make it so happy!  To put on the trim and ribbon, you need to use sticky tape.  The fun thing is that the color assortment  of buttons in the Sweet Stitches button assortment in the Occasions Mini match any of the pompom trim colors and you can change the circle punch color!  I actually made 3 of these and thought I took pictures of them but I can't find them. 

My mother-in-law is turning 86 this next week so I made one for her and then I made one as a sample for my Demonstrator Get Together that is today!   Enjoy the cupcakes!
